In unit 3 I rated my physical wellness at a 6, and now I believe that it has gone up to at least a 7. My spiritual was rated at a 7, and now it is probably a 7.5. My psychological wellness ranked at a 7, and that has definitely moved up to an 8 since unit 3.
Physically, my goal was to start a workout regimen. I have recently started seeing a chiropractor and massage therapist, so I now have a schedule for routine maintenance. I have learned new exercises and feel that I have created more stability for my physical health. At this very moment that heat outside is a bit too much for myself and the pups.
Spiritually, I feel a little better. I have spent more time with friends, but becoming too busy can be stressful also. I need to try to maintain more of a balance. We will be attending some out of state weddings soon, as well as hosting family at our house while they are in town visiting. I know that I will missing a boring weekend or two by the end of the year.
Psychologically, I feel that my mind is more as ease. I have gotten to read a little more for pleasure recently which is nice. I feel productive. I also feel more open and kind-hearted towards others. It's interesting to see how often I catch myself trying to avoid eye contact when someone approaches (or to notice that the other person is doing the same thing), but I make myself look and smile now in hopes that kindness can be contagious.
In summary, I have really enjoyed this course as it has decreased my stress instead of increasing it. I feel that there has definitely been a positive impact on my whole well-being. Sometimes it is hard to make myself stop and practice daily meditation. When I do meditate I feel that it can be difficult to slip into a deep state of mind in the beginning. I try to remember the words of previous relaxation exercises, but that too escapes me at times. When I can center and focus though I feel that I reap great rewards. I feel less physical pain, I feel happier, calmer, and less alone. Creating balance is desirable and healthy, so I am glad to know a little more about how to achieve this and maintain results.

Jamie,
ReplyDeleteToday was especially hot!! I was drenched in sweat jogging, while pushing a double-seated stroller with my nephews in it. My sister had the golden retriever on a leash, and I ended up putting her lap dog in the stroller as well. We ended up spending the rest of the afternoon at the pool to cool off. I hope you tried to stay out of it as well.

Congratulations on your progress! I am sure your progress. It is hard for me to find the time to make my daily meditations as well, but I always try to remind myself that if I don't stop and make the time for myself and personal well being who will? It is important for us to take care of ourselves and make the most of every moment we can. If we are able to apply the things we have learned during this course in our daily lives then we will only be better off for it. Good job and good luck with the future.
ReplyDeleteJamie,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your progress and the insight about balance! I'm glad pain management goes better for you, too. I notice that, depending on where people grow up, eye contact is often avoided. I try to look at someone's shoulder and smile. I'm still sending positive energy and it makes me feel better. I'm glad that your practice goes well!
Wishing you much Love, Luck and Laughter,
Cindy : )
Jamie,
ReplyDeleteSo true about this course. It has been such a relaxing, enjoyable class. I am very sorry to see it come to an end. It has been great to have the opportunity to review all of the practices during the last 10 weeks and implement them into my schedule. It certainly didn't seem as though I was bogged down with homework, as I usually do with other classes. It looks as though you have made a great start on your improvement plan. I wish you the best as you continue on your journey!
Best,
Autumn

I wish you all the best that life has to offer! Good luck with your studies :)
